COVID-19: Support and services in Lanarkshire

We understand that COVID-19 is having a serious impact on the lives of women who sell/exchange sex. Below you can find information on key services in LANARKSHIRE who are able to provide support with housing, money, food, sexual health, and wellbeing.

Housing, Energy & Money

  • Shelter Scotland Support Service South Lanarkshire – Practical and emotional support for families living in South Lanarkshire who are homeless or at risk of homelessness (0344 515 2500)
  • Money Matters Advice Service (South Lanarkshire) – Face to face appointments at Money Matters Advice Services are currently not available. Contact 0303 123 1008 for emergency money advice
  • North Lanarkshire Council – The Financial Inclusion Team Debt Advisors at North Lanarkshire Council can provide free, impartial and confidential money advice and help you find the best solution to rent/mortgage arrears, gas/electricity arrears and loan repayments


  • Basics Food Bank (North Lanarkshire) – Foodbanks located at Motherwell Crosshill Parish Church (Wednesdays 10AM-12PM from 01/04/2020), Airdrie Pilgrim Church (Thursdays 10AM-12:30PM from 01/04/2020), Wishaw Baptist Church (Fridays 10AM-12:30PM from 01/04/2020)
  • Hamilton District Foodbank – Foodbank which runs on referral basis. Get in touch with CLiCK if you need support in accessing this service
  • Airdrie Foodbank – Foodbank which runs on referral basis. Get in touch with CLiCK if you need support in accessing this service
  • Healthy Valleys – Community partnership delivering essential health, food, and activity packs to families and individuals in South Lanarkshire rural communities (Find local worker contact information here)

Sexual Health

  • NHS Lanarkshire – All long acting reversible contraception and generic walk-in sexual health clinics will be temporarily changed to booked for priority conditions. Contact 0300 303 0251 for telephone triage
  • Contraceptive Pills and Condoms by Post – Telephone consultations are being held for as many conditions as possible. Contact 0300 303 0251 (Mon – Thur, 9am-9pm & Fri 9am-5pm) for collection and posting of contraceptive pills to already known patients. Contact 07583064622 (Mon- Fri, 9am-5pm) for a condoms by post service


  • Health and Wellness Hub – A holistic health and wellbeing support service in North Lanarkshire. Currently offering advice and information on how to keep yourself well at home online
  • You Are My Sunshine (YAMS) – Mental Health support service charity providing online information about self-care at home
  • The Beacons – Offering people in recovery support online, as well as links into recovery support in South Lanarkshire
  • Chris’s House – Centre for help, response and intervention surrounding suicide. Providing support online and via telephone
